Ice in blender jar. |
1. Add ice to blender.
 |
Frozen bananas added. |
2. Add frozen bananas. You can use only frozen bananas without ice if you want/don't mind the extra fruitiness. In fact, I usually only use one or even one-half banana because I like the banana to be almost tasteless. Less banana results in a more Frappuccino-like beverage, but with a healthier sweetness and creaminess.
 |
Coconut nectar added. |
3. Coconut nectar appears to be the healthiest sweetener on the market and it blends nicely into a Frappé.
 |
Milk, coffee and optional coconut oil added. |
4. Must have some variety of milk (cashew, hemp, soy, almond, rice, dairy, your mother's, any should do). Coffee is necessary for a frappé otherwise it's a smoothie/shake. I added very little coffee to this one. More coffee equals more Frappucino-like. Coconut oil ensures a more consistent and nutritious result, but it's not essential.
 |
Cocoa powder added. |
5. Whereas cocoa is essential. Now you need to blend it all together (follow the blender's instructions). I use a Cuisinart blender with a sold-separately stainless steel jar. Blend until smooth, plain and simple. Sometimes it's trickier than others. I usually blend from one to three minutes depending on the difficulty of getting a consistent texture.

Can you say smooth? And sweet! |
6. The rather healthy result that will boost your mood and your health.
* I recommend yogurt chips for a nice Java Chip texture.
